KUALA LUMPUR – A senior officer to Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), while a raid was conducted at the ministry this morning.

MACC commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the matter in a brief response via WhatsApp to The Vibes.

He also confirmed that other individuals have been detained to assist in investigations pertaining to graft allegations involving a migrant worker recruitment agency.

It is learnt that the arrests pertain to allegations that those involved had set up a migrant worker recruitment agency to obtain approval from the ministry despite conflicts of interest.

It is also learnt that a second person arrested is a migrant worker recruitment agent.

They were picked up in Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 1am yesterday after arriving from Bangkok.

MACC officers later proceeded to raid the ministry this morning.

It is learnt that MACC investigations are focusing on other individuals within the ministry and its related agencies.
